Data Conversion - Media, Format & Optical

Our off-line conversion services are unique in that they use technologies and processes that do not impact the client’s day-to-day operations, allowing us to perform large-scale conversions in the most efficient and cost effective way.

MBS has decades of experience providing data conversion services, including:

Data Conversions: changing of the data structure to accommodate new or different needs for the data

• Examples: converting from EBCDIC to ASCII / unpacking compressed fields / restructuring the fields in a database

Media Conversions: duplicate copy of data from one piece of media to another

• Example: Duplicating a SDLT tape onto a LTO2 tape

Format Conversions: transfer of data between logical formats to enable the reading of data on one platform having been written on another

• Example: reading a tape on an NT platform having being written as a UNIX TAR file.

Magneto-Optical Conversions: restoring and converting images from optical platters to a required image format on another media such as a CD or DVD

• • Example: converting scanned images that are archived on AS/400 platforms in MO:DCA type format to and image such as a TIFF or JPEG

Our migration services include:

• Engaging with application teams through E2E data migration process
• Configuration and execution of final data backup in legacy data centers (globally)
• Arrange the secure shipment of tapes from legacy data centers to Next Generation Data Center (NGDC) sites
• Configuration and execution of initial data restore into NGDC environment
• Service Management oversight and process control
